2009 OLD OTTERBEIN CHURCH CONFERENCE

All members and friends of Old Otterbein are encouraged to participate in our annual meeting with the District Superintendent.  We will be looking at our church’s life as it partners with other United Methodist congregations both within our conference and around the world. 

Some of the agenda items are: reception of the Long Range Planning Team’s progress report; the election of our 2010 leadership team; certification of a lay speaker; adoption of the new policy to guide our use of Endowment Funds; and receiving information about our partnership ministries (especially through the Hope Fund) around the world.

2009 ADVENT/CHRISTMAS SEASON CALENDAR

 DAILY DEVOTIONS AT HOME

In addition to the Upper Room, a special Advent devotional guide, Advent A Calendar of Devotions for 2009, is available for families to use as they light

   Advent/Christmas candles at home. Copies of both devotional guides are available on the table inside the entrance to the sanctuary.

POINSETTIAS FOR THE SANCTUARY

To place your order, complete the form and return to Dan Fisher by November 29th. Poinsettias are $10.00.

WORSHIP AT OLD OTTERBEIN

Each week a different person will light an Advent Candle on the wreath located in the sanctuary.  If you would like to be one of the persons to give leadership to this part of the service, contact Dr. DeLong, 410-608-1690.

 WEEKLY SUNDAY BIBLE STUDY

“The Living God” study will meet in the Nelker Building each Sunday at 10:00 am.  Each session is independent of the other sessions although to gain the most from the experience, participants need to be regular in attendance.  Books are available during each session.  Since Old Otterbein is one of the commissioning churches of this study, books are available for a nominal donation of $5.00

Gifts for two Baltimore Families

Members are invited to select one or more cards off the Christmas Tree in the Narthex,  purchase the indicated gift and return the unwrapped gift with the card attached to the church by Sunday, December 13. The Susanna Wesley House (a ministry of the United Methodist Church) and Family Connections (a community outreach agency of the University of Maryland) have asked us to support their ongoing work with these two families with the purchase of these gifts.
