Board of Trustees
The Trustees are responsible for the physical church property. They should:
1. Elect a chair to head the Board of Trustees.
2. Perform any maintenance, repair or minor improvement to church property that the Trustees� budget will allow. This work can be performed by church members using trustees� funds for materials or by contractors or repairmen hired to perform the work.
3. Make recommendations to the Church Council for major repairs or improvements. The recommendations should include necessary surveys, inventories, estimates, schedules, costs, and impact to church activities.
4. Provide an interface between the church and any contractors, repairmen, etc. for providing access to church property, providing over-sight to the work being performed, and confirming to church finance officers that the work has been performed adequately and according to any contracts and agreements between the church and the people performing the work.
5. Provide recommendations to the Church Council on physical property insurance providers.
6. Provide responsibility for church building doors, gates, and locks.
7. Provide responsibility for grass cutting and snow removal.
8. Provide responsibility for maintenance of the gardens, shrubs and trees.
9. Provide responsibility for lighting, walkways and removal of hazards.
10. Ensure the church property is clean and trash is disposed.
Administrative Council
The Administrative Council is the highest level of church membership authority. It is composed of the church officers and members-at-large.
The Administrative Council should:
1. Provide a vision for the church and take the necessary actions to fulfill that vision. The Administrative Council shall set and meet specific goals to carry out its vision. The goals include those given to us by Jesus Christ to do his work and spread his word in a variety of missions and methods and those we receive from the district and foundation. They also include any church business goals such as church growth, working with other churches, organizations, and neighbors.
2. Provide and maintain the business infrastructure necessary for the church to function efficiently and effectively. The infrastructure includes physical assets, employees, volunteers and business processes.
3. Provide oversight to the financial processes and officers, including reviewing financial reports and ensuring regular audits.
4. Provide oversight of the Board of Trustees. The council is responsible for raising the necessary funds for the projects the Board of Trustees recommends and the Council approves.
5. Provide oversight of church committees. The council may create temporary or permanent committees to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the church�s operation and Council meetings.
6. Provide the funds necessary for the church, approve or disapprove requests for money for various church projects, approve or disapprove additional money for committees.
